Description:
When comparing our Peppermint Arvensis to our Peppermint Piperita, it's clear they are two very different oils both with strong qualities. The Peppermint Arvensis is more mellow and doesn't have the powerful punch of the Peppermint Piperita, you could say it's a little calmer and sweeter, and doesn't have the high notes of the Peppermint Piperita. You really have to try both and decide for yourself which is your favourite.

Peppermint Arvensis oil is produced mainly in India. India is famous for its mint products. Indian soil and climatic conditions are conducive to producing and growing the best Peppermint plants that yield outstanding quality Peppermint oil. Even the odour profile is by far and undoubtedly the best in the world. 
The peppermint plant is a summer-growing perennial with upright square stems reaching 10-60cm in height at maturity. The plant is known for its high menthol content, so high, in fact, that menthol crystals form on the surface of the leaves. 
The oil is obtained by steam distilling the flowering Mentha Arvensis herb.

Peppermint's origin is somewhat of a mystery, but it has been in existence for a long time - dried leaves were found in Egyptian pyramids dating from around 1000 BC. It was highly valued by the Greeks and Romans but only became popular in  Western Europe in the 18th Century.
Peppermint tea helps with indigestion and relaxes the muscles of the digestive tract. Peppermint's chief therapeutic value lies in its ability to relieve wind, flatulence, bloating and colic, though it has many other applications.
It is one of the oldest and most highly regarded herbs for soothing digestion; it may also improve gastric motility and digestive efficiency. Jean Valnet, M.D., studied peppermint's effect on the liver and respiratory systems.
Other scientists have also researched peppermint's role in improving taste and smell when inhaled. Studies have shown that it relieves colon spasms and helps to cure ulcers.
Peppermint also eases nervous headaches. Menthol, its main constituent, has antibacterial properties. 

Properties:
It is an antiseptic, stimulant, anaesthetic, antibacterial, carminative, stomachic, antispasmodic and disinfectant.

Massage:
This oil added to massage oil can help improve blood flow, aiding and easing rheumatism, arthritis, neuralgia, muscular pain, cramps, 

Skincare:
Externally, the essential oil is used in balms and liniments to stimulate hot and cold nerve endings and increase local blood flow, helping dermatitis, scabies, burns,  It is known to improve dull and oily skin, It helps combat itching and minor skin irritations. 

Haircare:
It has been known to help with dandruff and headlice and will help condition your hair when added to your conditioner.

Homecare:
A lot of smaller animals and insects don't like the smell of peppermint so this oil can be helpful in controlling ants, aphids, plant lice and types of beetles and mice, it is also a mosquito and flea repellent.

Diffuser:
Peppermint can be useful in easing coughs, colds and headaches, nausea. It can help with insomnia, sinusitis, asthma, bronchitis,

Safety Information: Avoid if pregnant or breastfeeding. Do not use it on babies or small children. Peppermint Oil may cause irritation to sensitive skin, however, it is rare. Important to do a patch test first, before applying in large amounts. Do not use in baths.

Please Note: “Major constituent of Peppermint Arvensis Oil is Menthol (appx. 70%). The high menthol content of this oil is an indication of purity and quality. Menthol is a waxy, crystalline substance, clear or white in colour, which is solid at room temperature and melts slightly above. Melting Point: 36 to 38°C. Therefore, if this Essential Oil is cooled down to below 25°C, the Menthol may start to crystallize. We observed this occurrence here in the Lab during winter months.”
