Description:
The peppermint plant is a summer-growing perennial with upright square stems reaching a meter in height at maturity. The plant is known for its high menthol content, so high, in fact, that menthol crystals form on the surface of the leaves. Peppermint's origin is somewhat of a mystery, but it has been in existence for a long time - dried leaves were found in Egyptian pyramids dating from around 1000 BC. It was highly valued by the Greeks and Romans. It was first described in England in 1696 but only became popular in Western Europe in the 18th Century.

Peppermint Piperita Oil has a rich, strong, clean, fresh, minty aroma and impactful aroma. It is one of the oldest and most highly regarded herbs for soothing digestion; research has shown peppermint's role in improving taste and smell when inhaled. Peppermint also eases nervous headaches. Menthol, its main constituent, has antibacterial properties.

Properties:
Antispasmodic, aromatic, and antiseptic, analgesic, anaesthetic, antimicrobial, antiviral, antioxidant, expectorant. beneficial for the treatment of colds, cramps, indigestion, nausea, sore throat, and toothaches.

Massage:
Peppermint oil used diluted in massage oil will have a cooling effect on the body to help soothe sore muscles. As it is a natural painkiller and muscle relaxant, it can also help ease fevers. It can help ease a tension headache or migraine.

Skincare:
This oil may be helpful in hydrating burnt pores and skin, giving relief from sunburn pain and generally improve skin health. Combined with lavender oil and added to sesame oil it can be helpful in relieving persistent itchiness.
Peppermint oil is very effective as a bug repellent including for ants, spiders, cockroaches, mosquitos, mice and lice.
This oil added to a cream or lotion can also be effective in reducing blackheads, greasy skin, dermatitis, inflammation, ringworm.

Haircare:
Peppermint oil added to shampoo or conditioner will have a stimulation effect on the scalp, helping hair growth and it can also thicken and nourish damaged hair. It is often used in dandruff shampoos and because of its antiseptic properties it will help remove germs that can build up in the hair.

Diffuser:
Inhaling Peppermint oil used in a diffuser can help ease sinus or chest congestion or a scratchy throat It will help improve mental focus and concentration and help stimulate the mind during study and the body during a workout. It can help alleviate nausea and morning sickness. As it acts as an expectorant it will help open blocked airways, clear mucus. Because of its antimicrobial, antiviral and antioxidant properties, it can help fight infections and is one of the best oils for colds, flu, sinusitis, asthma and other respiratory conditions. To help with seasonal hay fever symptoms simply diffuse peppermint oil and eucalyptus oil to help clear nasal passages.

Caution:
Safety Information: Avoid if pregnant or breastfeeding. Do not use it on babies or small children. Peppermint Oil may cause irritation to sensitive skin, however, it is rare. Important to do a patch test first, before applying in large amounts. Do not use in baths.

Suggested Uses:

Vaporizer: Add 10-15 drops to a vaporizer to scent the room.

Skin Care: Add 1-2 % (20-40 drops per 100ml) to cream, lotion or body butter for general body application.

Massage: Add 1-2 % (20-40 drops per 100ml) to NakedPress massage oil for general body application.

Bath: Add 5-10 drops to a fully drawn bath, having first mixed the essential oil with an emulsifier like liquid soap.
