Description: 
The Myrrh Tree (Commiphora myrrha) is an ancient, hardy, thorny and sacred desert tree that has a recorded history dating back thousands of years. 
 A timeline along which multiple civilizations have traded and used the valuable dried resin/gum for various applications.
Most famously referenced in the Holy Bible as "Frankincense and Myrrh" these resins were at the time given as valuable gifts said to be hoarded and traded like gold and out of reach for the average man/woman of the time. The name Myrrh comes from the Arab word "murr" for bitter.
Myrrh Essential Oil is attained via the steam distillation of the dried resin/gum/sap of the tree. The Myrrh Tree is very similar to the Frankincense tree in its origins and dated history, also in the way the essential oils are both gained from the dried resin.
Traditionally the resins were burnt in special cups/resin burning artifacts, as when the dried resin was lit, it smoldered and smoked, filling the room with the aroma and elements from the resin.
Myrrh has long been used in traditional Chinese medicine and Ayurvedic medicine. 

Properties: Antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antimicrobial, astringent, antifungal, antispasmodic, expectorant, astringent, antiseptic, sedative, antidepressant, antispasmodic.

Massage:
Using Myrrh diluted in your favorite NakedPress massage oil like Jojoba, Almond, Grapeseed or Coconut, can be helpful in relieving headaches, joint pain and back pain and may help reduce swelling associated with inflammation. Due to its antispasmodic properties, it can be helpful in relieving cramps, aches and muscle pain and bruising.

Due to its astringent properties, Myrrh can strengthen hair roots and prevent hair loss.

Myrrh oil may be helpful in killing mold and mildew that can appear inside homes on damp walls.

Diffuser: When diffused, Myrrh can help ease nervous tension and bring about feelings of strength and its warm, woody, subtle amber scent builds a warm, calming and balancing atmosphere. Myrrh can also be helpful in purifying the air by reducing harmful airborne bacteria, airborne diseases, viral infections and encourage good health by boosting the immune system. Diffused during flu season Myrrh can be helpful as an expectorant for congested lungs and stuffy noses and may help ease persistent coughs. 

Note: NakedPress Myrrh essential oil is a very thick oil and becomes thicker in cold weather, preventing it from flowing through the dripolator hole. When using a diffuser, it may be necessary to remove the dripolator insert and gently pour the oil into the unit instead.
